The initial focus is Estate and GST Tax forms: The goal is to supply all of the forms required by the estate tax preparer. This includes all relevant years of Form 706, and all decoupled state estate tax forms. Since the preparation of decouple state estate tax forms is a main focus area of our BRS Tax Preparer product, we plan to support the forms for every decoupled state. This product's unique structure allows for total freedom when preparing estate tax returns that include decoupled states. First allows for more than one state tax form to be prepared in the same case. Second it allows more than one year of the federal Form 706 to be included in the case file incase a decoupled state requires a historic Form 706. Thirdly, it also allows a state tax form to be prepared in a case by itself without requiring a federal Form 706 to be included. We realize that estate tax forms for past years are often of use. Therefore we will be supporting Form 706 back until 2001. If customer demand is sufficient then we will go even further back. We realize that a preparer may need to begin working on a current year estate tax return before the Form 706 is released. To solve this problem we will be releasing a "working draft" Form 706 module to be used to work on estate tax returns for the current year. This special form module will use the current year calculations on the previous year form. For example, if the decedent died in January of 2006 the preparer can use our "working draft" Form 706 (2006) form module to begin preparing the decedent's 2006 estate tax return on a copy of Form 706 (2005) that performs the 2006 calculations. Then when the Form 706 (2006) is released by the IRS this "working draft" will be replaced by a "final" version that contains the Form 706 (2006). We also will be supporting all 706 related federal forms such as 706-CE, 706-NA, 706-A, 706-D,706-QDT, 706-GS(D), 706-GS(D-1), 706-GS(T) etc. Future form releases expected Since gift and estate taxes are closely related we also plan to support the federal Form 709 (Gift and GST Tax Return) in future years. A bit further in the future we plan to expand the list of supported forms to cover other areas of the tax law. The first area of interest would be the fiduciary income tax since this is related to our core interest of a complete estate tax solution. Most importantly we will be expanding our supported forms list to satisfy the needs of our customers. The most requested forms will be implemented first. A customer can submit a request for a new form by filling out the following request page. For more information on the BRS Tax Preparer visit its product page. |
